Looking back at the RELANG workshop: impressions of the participants
On August 28 - 30, 2023, a RELANG initiative workshop took place in the NPI CR conference centre. The long-term goal of this initiative is for language tests and exams to ensure valid assessment of pupils and students according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This initiative takes place as a part of the cooperation agreement between the European Centre for Modern Languages and the European Commission under the name Innovative methodologies and assessment in language learning.
Jana Bérešová, head of the Department of English Language and Literature from the Faculty of Education of Trnava University in Slovakia, and Rita Juknevičienė from the Department of English Philology at the Faculty of Philology of Vilnius University in Lithuania introduced themselves as lecturers. The practical tasks gradually led to the solving the problem of determining the level of language level achieved.
❓ And how do participants evaluate the workshop? In the video, we asked Iveta Kučerová and Alena Muchovičová from the Language School with the right to take the state language exam in Brno and Silvia Převrátilová from the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University in Prague.
❓ What does the RELANG initiative consist of? In recent years, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) of the Council of Europe has become a tool for creating language education strategies. The increasing levels of language proficiency according to the CEFR have created a situation where public authorities, examination institutes, language schools and university departments across Europe are trying to bring their foreign language curricula and examinations into line with the CEFR. The RELANG initiative offers stakeholders in the Member States of the European Union and the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML) training on the proper linking of language tests and examinations to the CEFR and to explore the relationship between foreign language curricula and the CEFR. ℹ Find more at https://relang.ecml.at
